This exercise is all about looking closer. Often it’s the little details that bring a scene to life in the mind of the reader. All of these photographs were taken along the stretch of coastline where Seal/Girl is set. There is something interesting about every one – the light, the texture, the form.

 

The final exercise of the three uses all the skills developed so far to produce a piece of writing based on a single image with an environmental theme. To do it well, you need to put together your ability to place a character into a scene, create setting and atmosphere, and observe tiny details.
